Lavishly illustrated, the book also contains much unpublished historical material on the wild camel, the exodus in 1948 of Kazakhs across the waterless Desert of Lop, and the first identification of the wild camel in 1874 by the famous Russian explorer, Nikolai Prejevalsky.
